When I was eighteen, I left with a backpack and a mission to see, experience, taste, smell and feel as much of the world as possible! Whenever I arrived to a new country, there was always a set itinerary. First order of business.. to seek out a local market where I could scope out the wide breadth of strange exotic plants, vegetables, and herbs. My passion for home remedies can be traced back to these cherished moments. Researching, sometimes obsessing over these newly discovered items health benefits and healing properties.
After a long stint of continuously being on the road, I made the executive decision to move to New Zealand. When I moved to New Zealand, my health was in shambles. I had experienced repeated severe cases of food poising and the stress from always being on the go had finally caught up to me. I was dealing with serious digestive issues and my skin was in a state of absolute despair.
I spent whatever money I made on anything and everything that promised to resolve my health issues. I would later find success in essential oils, helping to calm my nervous system in a gentle, natural way.
From there, I settled in France for two years, becoming absolutely fascinated with French skincare and homeopathy. If you’ve ever been in to a French pharmacy, you’ll see the sheer amount of quality, clean, all natural products.
Eventually I found myself back home on Canadian soil. Once home, I became obsessed with deciphering cosmetic ingredients list. It was frankly shocking to see the differentiation between the Canadian & U.S cosmetic industry standards compared to Europe.
The more we educate ourselves about the products we are using, the more we will demand change. Let’s transform the industry, one small business at a time.
