Hey…that’s me!

Hi! My name is Annika, however my friends call me Anni. I am originally from Vancouver Island, and grew up in what some might say, a hippie household on the Sunshine Coast. I am a travel enthusiast, aromatherapist, baker, chocolatier, foodie, and part-time mountain adventurer! I’ve always had an innate pull to the mountains, which is why I now call beautiful Banff Alberta my home.

Mostly, I am someone who cares a lot about well being and the healing power of plants.

How it started

To be perfectly honest, I have never had clear skin. I have been dealing with acne, rosacea and hyper pigmentation since I was 13. Anyone who has dealt with these kind of issues, knows the tole it can take on your mental health and self confidence.

When I first started my business I had the biggest imposter syndrome. “how could you start a skincare line, you have terrible skin, what makes you an expert on, well, anything!…”

Through this life long battle, the truth is. I had tried and tested everything… and I mean everything. I had basically spent my entire life savings on bottles of goop from dermatologist, aestheticians, naturopaths, and doctor recommended antibiotic treatments that promised results …literally everything.

And through all of this, I truly believe, I have found some amazing products and practices that really do work.

The problem….

When I found a product that delivered results, there was always a compromise. The formula would normally be comprised of heavy chemicals and preservatives. Ironically enough, these chemicals over-time can create a hormonal imbalance in your endocrine system, which can adversely affect your bodies ability to self-regulate.

And so, a small business was born! I started by researching all the ingredients I found most effective in the current products I was using. My hope was to derive an equally efficient and clean version to these items. Following years of formulating my own products for myself and friends. I finally to decided to make make them available to the public!

I hope they can help you as much as they helped me and all of my loved ones who have used them.

Discovery

When I was eighteen, I left with a backpack and a mission to see, experience, taste, smell and feel as much of the world as possible! Whenever I arrived to a new country, there was always a set itinerary. First order of business.. to seek out a local market where I could scope out the wide breadth of strange exotic plants, vegetables, and herbs. My passion for home remedies can be traced back to these cherished moments. Researching, sometimes obsessing over these newly discovered items health benefits and healing properties.

After a long stint of continuously being on the road, I made the executive decision to move to New Zealand. When I moved to New Zealand, my health was in shambles. I had experienced repeated severe cases of food poising and the stress from always being on the go had finally caught up to me. I was dealing with serious digestive issues and my skin was in a state of absolute despair.

I spent whatever money I made on anything and everything that promised to resolve my health issues. I would later find success in essential oils, helping to calm my nervous system in a gentle, natural way.

From there, I settled in France for two years, becoming absolutely fascinated with French skincare and homeopathy. If you’ve ever been in to a French pharmacy, you’ll see the sheer amount of quality, clean, all natural products.

Eventually I found myself back home on Canadian soil. Once home, I became obsessed with deciphering cosmetic ingredients list. It was frankly shocking to see the differentiation between the Canadian & U.S cosmetic industry standards compared to Europe.

The more we educate ourselves about the products we are using, the more we will demand change. Let’s transform the industry, one small business at a time.
